There are many causes of joint pain. The reasons can stem from chronic conditions including thyroid problems, fibromyalgia, anemia, poor quality of sleep or malnutrition to name a few. There are a number of natural methods on the market for treating or reducing joint problems and there are many advantages to taking natural supplements to manage joint discomfort. Many have reported a complete elimination of symptoms by using only all-natural supplements.

Other treatments for joint pain include the use of corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug. The problem with these prescription drugs are the side effects they carry. We all want to feel better but not at the expense of incurring more symptoms. Finding a treatment that does not have any side effects will prevent the vicious cycle from occurring in the first place.

Corticosteroids are used to relieve inflammation in joints and muscles. However, over time, side effects to do occur such as glaucoma, diabetes, osteoporosis fluid retention and swelling in the lower legs, increased blood pressure and weight gain.

The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also meant to provide relief from swelling. However, side effects include gastro esophageal reflux disease, especially for people who have lupus. Persons with lupus are prone to developing this disease when taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory prescriptions. Others experience a decreased appetite, skin rashes, dizziness, fatigue, headaches and nausea.

Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic medications are also used to treat such conditions. These are often used in combination with other medications. Side effects include upset stomach and a sore mouth. Another serious side effect is interference with bone marrow’s production of blood cells. If this occurs, low blood cell counts can cause fever, swollen lymph nodes and infections. In addition there may be liver or lung damage even with low doses. There are more side effects such as temporary hair loss, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rashes or weight loss. Every disease-modifying anti-rheumatic prescription type will present a few of these risks and the effects will vary from person to person.

In the light of the above, finding natural supplements devoid of side effects for treating joint pain is highly recommended.

Bacteria in the human body have been known to cause infections. This is why when we think of bacteria we think of it as harmful. Bacteria are everywhere and our immune system does the job of preventing most of it from harming us. There are also certain foods and well-rated natural supplements that can assist our immune system in fighting off harmful bacteria.

But is there such a thing as “good bacteria”? Yes, there is and it has a name – probiotics. Experts have long debated on how to define probiotics. One general definition is that probiotics are live microorganisms, which, if administered in the right amounts, provide a health benefit in the body. Probiotics can be found in foods and dietary supplements. Most probiotics are bacteria similar to those naturally found in your body’s digestive system. There are benefits to using probiotics such as to offset side effects from antibiotics like gas, cramping, or diarrhea. Antibiotics not only kill harmful bacteria but good bacteria also which is why supplementing with probiotics can be very beneficial. Some people use probiotics to ease symptoms of lactose intolerance which is a condition in which the digestive system lacks the enzymes needed to digest larger amounts of the major sugar in milk.

There are several types of harmful bacteria that cause disease such as yeast, fungi and parasites. Researchers are currently trying to explore whether probiotics could stop these harmful microorganisms before they can do any damage or suppress their growth and activity in health conditions that many suffer with such as:

      • Skin infections
      • Tooth decay
      • Vaginal infections
      • Infectious diarrhea
      • Ulcerative colitis
      • Crohn’s disease
      • Irritable bowel syndrome
      • Stomach infections
      • Respiratory infections and many others

Another reason for great interest in probiotics and probiotic formulas in supplements stem from the fact there are cells in the body’s digestive tract that are connected with the immune system. One working theory is that if you can alter the microorganisms in the body’s intestinal tract by introducing probiotic bacteria, then you can affect and improve the immune system’s defenses. In short probiotics is just another way to ensure that your entire system remains in good balance.

Some people have read less than desirable things regarding colon cleansing supplements and maybe you have too. Others feel that it’s a really good way to clear toxins from out of the body as long as you find the right product.

Colon cleansing supplements may help detoxify your digestive system. Many who have severe digestive problems or constipation where the body or bowel have difficulty eliminating waste and bacteria find it quite helpful. The key is to not over do it as constant colon cleansing can increase the risk of dehydration. If abused, it can also create a rise in the body’s electrolyte amounts, which presents a serious risk if you have a heart or kidney disease.

If you choose to do a colon cleansing, it is always advisable to:
        • Check with your doctor especially if you are taking any prescription drugs or have existing health problems.
        • Look into all natural colon cleansing products and review the herbal ingredients and amounts in them.
        • Beware of manufacturers that claim to cure illnesses with a colon cleansing product.
        • Drink water and lots of fluids during the colon cleansing to prevent dehydration.

The decision to get a colon cleanse is up to you and there will be some people who need it more than others. It may be just the thing you need to get things moving along correctly. Even if the product is natural, it should not be taken all the time. It simply provides support for your system till it does what it should naturally. Just remember to keep the above points in mind before you start your colonic.

        Happy cleansing.
