    Meditation has been considered a very powerful way to let your mind achieve some really impossible things on your behalf. It has been proved that mind power can help us in a huge number of ways, starting from getting rid of our daily mental problems to even many physical disorders.

    The right meditation technique can instill that level of mind power in you which can let you accomplish objectives like quitting smoking, losing weight, fighting depression, doing well on an examination, and a host of other things. And not only this, meditation has helped patients fight a number of diseases as well and there is adequate proof to support such incidents.

    There are a number of ways in which you can meditate. Here is one of the simplest methods that can eventually show you the best results if you are planning to try meditation. There is only one thing to understand – you won’t get there the very first day. It might take you a couple of weeks (or even a month), before you can fully grasp the procedure and start getting the best results out of it.

    Here are the steps to follow.

    1. Choose a calm and quiet place – like your bedroom – where there will be no disturbance during this 20 minute session. You can try this out on the terrace or in your garden as well – as long as you are completely relaxed and without any distractions. Avoid bright lights completely.
    2. Lie down on your back, and relax all your muscles, limbs and your mind.
    3. Close your eyes and focus them towards the center of your forehead.
    4. Start counting down from 100 to 0, with around 2 seconds gap between two consecutive numbers.
    5. While you are counting, try to picture something that makes you feel good. It can be your favorite tourist spot, a movie you watched recently, or something that is enriching for your mind.
    6. The idea is to be calm all through and concentrate on your thoughts rather than on the surroundings and the physical sensation.
    7. Once you reach the number zero, you should feel completely calm and relaxed. And if you have done the things right, you will not feel your hands, limbs or other body parts at all. You may feel that you are floating in mid-air!
    8. Make sure you have your eyes closed all the time.
    9. Now is the time to tell yourself (you don’t have to speak out loud) what you want to achieve. it can be something like “I want to quit smoking” or “I will get better from my migraine”, etc.
    10. 10.  Continue with this for the next 15 minutes or so – without getting too tensed or stressed about the time period.
    11. 11.  Next, once you feel satisfied enough, start counting from 0 to 100 again, with 2 second gap between two consecutive numbers.
    12. 12.  Once you reach 100, slowly open your eyes, and lie down in a relaxed state for another 5 minutes for the best results.

    This constitutes the whole meditation session and can prove to be very effective for you if you are doing the things right. You may not feel that you are quite there the very first day or week, but slowly and slowly your body and mind will get tuned to it, and you can achieve some really fascinating results out of it.

Meditation helps your mind to develop a good level of confidence, get rid of negative feelings, and lets your mind be in perfect sync with your body.       We have all heard it at some point of time or the other, but very few realize how the right sleep can help us lead a healthier and fitter life. I have even heard people say that a good diet and proper exercise is all that the body needs to stay healthy. This is absolutely wrong.

      By “the right sleep” I don’t mean sleeping long hours daily. Neither do I claim that “the right sleep” alone can let you lead a healthy life. Instead, a sound sleep, without even the little bit of disturbance and distraction, is what we require to let our body and mind the time it needs to rest and rejuvenate.

      While we are sleeping, the body repairs the damages it sees throughout the day, and grows new cells, which is the required maintenance work that keeps our organs and brain in the right shape.

      This is just like a machine. If you overwork a machine without giving it a break and maintaining it properly, it will break down, no matter how much fuel you supply it with.

      So how do you ensure that you can the right sleep to keep your mind and body fit?

      1. Make sure you sleep at least 6 hours every day – absolutely no disturbance should be there to wake you up during this time period.
      2. Don’t sleep with bright lights on. Turn the lights off completely or use very dim lights if you must.
      3. Take a shower before you go to sleep. This helps you fall asleep better.
      4. Try reading a book in bed if you find sleeping a bit tough with your mind wandering off here and there.
      5. Listen to soft music while you are in bed. Make sure you don’t listen to something too loud. Use an auto timer to switch the music off automatically after a while.
      6. Make sure you are comfortable with the mattress and the bed.
      7. Put your phones on silent mode.
      8. Drink heaps of water and fluids through the day.
      9. Try exercising every day in the morning for around 15 to 20 minutes – simple aerobics.
      10. Try meditating before you go to sleep.
